UTE LOCAL 00048 SUPPORTS THE BLACK CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT

Writer: Local 00048Local 00048

The Black class action lawsuit, filed four years ago on behalf of Black Canadians, reached a significant milestone as the certification hearing began yesterday. This hearing will determine if the lawsuit can move forward to trial. Several of your local Executives stood in solidarity alongside our Local's former president, Nicholas Marcus Thompson, and many others who have been instrumental in driving this case forward. The lawsuit aims to address and end systemic racism and discrimination impacting Black public service workers.

It was an incredible experience to be a part of this historic day.

The hearing is scheduled to continue for up to 12 days (180 Queen Street West, Toronto, beginning at 9:30 am each day), making this a critical time to show our support. If you're able, your presence would be invaluable—please consider attending!
